Wharton Summer High School Programs

The Wharton Summer High School Programs are immersive experiences for students currently enrolled in grades 9–11. Led by Wharton faculty and instructional staff, programs explore topics that align with Wharton research and teaching. Pre-collegiate students engage with our rigorous business education before making a post-secondary choice, and get the chance to study and network with global peers.

Online Courses & Programs

Future of the Business World

Platform: Online
Duration: 2 Weeks

Led by Wharton faculty, Future of the Business World introduces the foundations of a Wharton education to current 9–11 graders. Students explore real-time business themes and engage with big questions about the evolving world through group work, mini-lectures, project-based learning, and business simulations.

Moneyball Academy: Training Camp

Platform: Online
Duration: 1 Week

Serving as a broad introduction to the sports statistics world, the Wharton Moneyball Academy: Training Camp welcomes talented rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have strong math skills and an interest in sports. Wharton Professor Adi Wyner will join guest faculty and PhD students to teach students the fundamental principles of sports statistics.

Wharton Pre-Baccalaureate Program

Platform: Online
Duration: 5½ weeks

The Wharton Pre-Baccalaureate Program is an academically-intensive opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to enroll in Wharton online courses. Participants learn from Wharton instructors, earn a Wharton transcript, and accrue college credit for each course completed. With six sessions to choose from and built-in academic support, students explore Wharton with maximum flexibility and the resources to succeed.


Wharton Global Youth Meetup (GYM)

Wharton Global Youth Meetup (GYM) is a creative, extra-curricular community open to summer students as a way to connect to one another — and Wharton — before, during, and after their courses. Featuring both live and independent programming, the GYM is designed to ensure virtual participants don’t miss out on valuable community building and networking.

  • Available for 10 weeks
  • Live lectures and discussions with Wharton faculty, students, and guests
  • Workshops to advance academic and personal skills
  • Earn badges, win prizes, and compete in business-themed challenges

*The GYM is included with all online programs except for Understanding Your Money.

Residential Programs

Essentials of Entrepreneurship

Duration: 2 weeks
Location: The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania

Essentials of Entrepreneurship is an intensive program that provides a select group of high school students a unique opportunity to develop innovative thinking, hone problem-solving skills, take a product concept from idea to reality, and learn what it takes to truly be an entrepreneur.

Essentials of Finance

Duration: 2 weeks
Location: The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania

Essentials of Finance is an intensive two-week opportunity for a select group of high school students to learn the fundamentals of finance and delve into the world of investing. Utilizing an online stock simulator, students work collaboratively to develop and present a comprehensive investment strategy.

Leadership in the Business World

Duration: 3 Weeks
Location: The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania

LBW is an intensive three-week opportunity that fuses research-based theories of leadership and teamwork with practical application through real-world business simulations and collaborative projects. Open to rising high school seniors and select juniors, the program introduces the breadth of Wharton’s celebrated business education curriculum.

Data Science Academy

Duration: 3 Weeks
Location: The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania

The three-week Data Science Academy equips rising high school juniors and seniors with essential data science techniques such as data visualization and data wrangling, and also introduces them to modern machine learning methodologies which are all building blocks for today’s AI field.

Moneyball Academy

Duration: 3 Weeks
Location: The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania

The Wharton Moneyball Academy is ideal for rising high school juniors and seniors with a strong background in math and a love of sports. Students get to study sports analytics at Wharton and learn how real-life professionals use computer programming, statistical thinking, and data to make deep discoveries in sports.

Sports Business Academy

Duration: 3 Weeks
Location: The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania

In this rigorous three-week program, rising high school juniors and seniors examine various academic disciplines as they apply to the sports industry with an overview of the business and legal aspects of various intercollegiate, Olympic and professional sports enterprises.Students explore ownership, sports agents, marketing, media, labor, and more.

Management & Technology Summer Institute

Duration: 3 Weeks
Location: The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania

M&TSI is a rigorous and rewarding credit program for rising high school seniors and select juniors interested in the intersection of business and technological innovation. M&TSI features classes taught by Wharton/Penn faculty and entrepreneurs, industry field trips, a team prototyping project, and more.

Residential Programs and COVID-19

At this time, the university is actively planning for in-person, residential programs for summer 2021. Should the ongoing global pandemic force the university to cancel residential programs, all impacted students will be provided flexible options, including: the option to switch into an equivalent or alternate online program offered by the Wharton School, the option to request a full program fee refund, or the option to rollover enrollment to summer 2022, if eligible. We are committed to delivering quality programming, regardless of location or platform, and will provide timely updates and maximum flexibility to our students and families.
