Wharton Global Youth On-Campus Programs provide a comprehensive and transformative educational experience on an historic Ivy League campus. Guided by Wharton’s culture of innovation, hands-on learning, collaboration, impact, and academic excellence, programs are designed to edcuate and inspire the next generation of global leaders. Fees and additional costs asssociated with attending on-campus programs vary, as outlined below.

On-Campus program fees include: Full academic and term fees, use of Penn academic facilities, on-campus housing, two meals a day Monday-Friday, two meals on Sunday (no meals Saturday due to excursions/activities), extracurricular activities and trips, student supervision. 

Not included:  Non-refundable $100 application fee, travel to/from Penn’s campus, airport transfers, Pottruck Gym access (may be available for additional fee); class materials; meals eaten off campus; medical expenses; laundry; souvenirs; and personal spending money. 

Scholarship Opportunities

The Wharton Global Youth Program is committed to supporting academically ambitious students with demonstrated financial need. Through a variety of need-based scholarships and financial awards, we are able to provide full or partial funding for a select number of eligible program participants.

The scholarship opportunities outlined below are applicable for students applying to the following programs:

  • Essentials of Entrepreneurship
  • Essentials of Finance
  • Leadership in the Business World
  • Data Science Academy
  • Moneyball Academy
  • Sports Business Academy

Scholarship information is reviewed confidentially by the Wharton Global Youth Program team and does not influence admission decisions.

Wharton Global Youth Program Scholarships

Wharton Global Youth Program scholarships provide financial assistance to students with a passion for business who could not otherwise attend a summer program due to cost. Scholarship awards are partial, and typically award between $500 and $5,000 to cover relevant program fees. Scholarship funding is limited; we cannot guarantee all applicants will ultimately receive financial assistance. Scholarships are awarded to students with a record of academic excellence and demonstrated financial need. Need is determined by a variety of factors including family income, family size, relevant expenses, and additional financial circumstances. 

 Eligibility: 

In order to qualify for a Wharton Global Youth Program Scholarship, students must: 

  • Come from a historically underrepresented group or identify as first-generation to college 
  • Demonstrate financial need 
  • Submit a program application by the Priority Deadline of January 20, 2022 
  • Submit a scholarship application by the scholarship deadline of January 31, 2022 
  • Be accepted into a Wharton Global Youth On-Campus Program

Philadelphia Public School District Scholarships

Students attending a School District of Philadelphia public or charter high school with financial need may be eligible for a full scholarship to attend a Wharton Global Youth summer program. Scholarship funding is limited; we cannot guarantee all applicants will ultimately receive financial assistance. Scholarships are applied toward relevant program fees; there may be additional costs of attending programming, such as course materials, additional meals, incidentals, etc. Scholarships are awarded to students with a record of academic excellence and demonstrated financial need. Need is determined by a variety of factors including family income, family size, relevant expenses, and additional financial circumstances.

Eligibility: 

In order to qualify for a Philadelphia School District Scholarship, students must: 

  • Be currently enrolled in a School District of Philadelphia public or charter high school 
  • Be a resident of the City of Philadelphia 
  • Demonstrate financial need 
  • Submit a program application by the Priority Deadline of January 20, 2022 
  • Submit a scholarship application by the scholarship deadline of January 31, 2022 
  • Be accepted into a Wharton Global Youth On-Campus Program

Partner Scholarships

The Wharton Global Youth Program is fortunate to partner with a variety of community-based organizations, educational foundations, and scholarship agencies to provide funding for summer learning opportunities for academically accomplished students. These partnerships typically serve first-generation students, low income students, and students from historically underrepresented groups.

Eligibility: 

In order to qualify for a Partner Scholarship, students must: 

  • Be nominated by a current partner organization, listed above 
  • Demonstrate financial need, as verified by the partner organization 
  • Be admitted into a Wharton Global Youth On-Campus summer program 

Partner Scholarship Information:  

Students must be nominated by a partner organization and be admitted into a Wharton Global Youth On-Campus summer program to qualify for a partner scholarship. A nomination alone does not guarantee admission into a summer program. Nominee program applications are reviewed using the same criteria as all other program applications. No further scholarship application is required. Application fees may be waived at the request of the partner organization.

Application Fee Waivers

Applicants may qualify for an application fee waiver if they: 

  • Attend a School District of Philadelphia public or charter high school 
  • Have been nominated by an official Wharton Global Youth Program partner organization to apply for a summer program  
    • Partner organizations must request an application fee waiver on the student’s behalf.

Scholarship FAQs

What is financial need? How do I demonstrate need?

Financial need is generally regarded as the difference between the cost of attending a summer program and the amount of money the student can contribute towards applicable program fees. In short, financial need means a student would not be able to afford programming opportunities without financial support.  

Within the scholarship application students will be asked to outline family income, number of household dependents, relevant expenses, and additional financial circumstances that will serve to demonstrate the level of financial need a student requires to attend programming.
