An operating system, or an OS, is a term that refers to software that runs behind the scenes on any computer. All application software or apps rely on the operating system on the computer to perform tasks. Examples of operating systems include Microsoft Windows, and Apple’s Mac OS. There have been recent speculations that Google will soon launch its own operating system.
