Accounts receivable is money that customers owe a company for goods and services it has sold. The University of Pennsylvania purchased $100,000 worth of Phillies tickets for all of their freshman students, and will pay the Phillies for the tickets next month. The Phillies recorded $100,000 in accounts receivable due from the university.
