A call center is a specialized facility or group of facilities that is used to make or answer large volumes of telephone calls. It is staffed by agents who work on the phone, and have specialized telephone and computer equipment to handle large volumes of calls. When you call your bank to check your balance, you are phoning a call center. Similarly, when you call an airline or hotel to make a reservation, you are phoning a call center.
