“When my team initially started investing in the GYM Trading Sprint, we chose stocks based on the names of big companies we’re already familiar with and are often mentioned, such as Apple, Coca-Cola, and Meta. It didn’t take us long to realize that it wasn’t an effective strategy. After learning how to utilize the DCF model in the Essentials of Finance program, we began computing the intrinsic value of a company to determine the rationale behind purchasing a stock. Our experience participating in the GYM Trading Sprint prompted us to register for the Wharton Global High School Investment Competition!”

The Wharton Global Youth Meetup Origin Story

Wharton Global Youth’s Global Youth Meetup is an innovation that emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic. It was launched in 2020 to enhance the experience for our online learners and provide students the opportunity to build connections, visit Wharton and Penn virtually when we couldn’t do so in-person, and explore different aspects of business education.

Since then, more than 5,000 students from 60+ countries have actively engaged in the online Global Youth Meetup each summer! It has evolved into a platform for connection, content, exploration and deep learning — grounded in high school students’ passion for business education.

“I loved how different people could share their personal story and make connections!”

-Seonwoo C., Wharton Global Youth student and GYM member

Members of the Global Youth Meetup can access exclusive live interviews with Wharton alumni to learn more about career paths and professional opportunities. View the recordings of some of our past discussions below.
